Los Angeles, California (JLN) - After two wonderful years in this crazy melting pot, it is time to look back and reflect. With its incredible diversity and creative industries, Los Angeles is not only the city where movies are made, it is also the city that has shaped me into becoming who I am today.

Long Beach

(2016) As the sun sets in Los Angeles I rap up my stuff at the post-production facility and get ready to head home. On the TV-set I see that there has been another police shooting. Later that night I join one of my flatmates at a vigil in support of black lives matter. The black scaffolding behind the iconic Tommy Trojan statue creates a perfect setting for the vigil. All summer flags were lowered to half staff everywhere and protesters gathered in front of the city hall.

My time came and it was time to say goodbye. Looking back on the past two years in California, moving in-n-out from time to time, Long Beach, San Diego, Los Angeles, I can honestly say that I have been blessed to meet many great new friends and experiencing things that I used to see only on film. I learned a lot during my time in California which I will always hold very close to me.
